My work

  • Aimee first picked up the cello at age 14 in her west Texas hometown, and by age 16, was already employed in the local professional symphony orchestra. Her gratitude for her own early music teachers led her to pursue a degree in Music Studies (education + performance) at the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas, where she was a student of the late Phyllis Young. After graduation, she spent several fulfilling years teaching junior high and high school orchestras and then decided to pause full-time teaching and pursue more performance and studio work.

In addition to her studio and production work, Aimee is passionate about lending her gifts to the local church. She also regularly performs weddings and events with Third Floor Strings, Undercover Band, and still enjoys hosting workshops and masterclasses.

  • Aimee lends a unique voice to any style. She has contributed to projects ranging from ambient neoclassical, Texas country, singer-songwriter ballads, to post-rock jams and film scores. Having worked on over 40 live and studio records, as well as countless singles, Aimee has well over 15 million streams and downloads to her name. She can write parts on the fly and prepare scores in advance, layer multiple cello tracks or lend a single beautiful voice.

Aimee’s instrument, affectionately named “Aurora”, was built in 1992 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has been with Aimee since 1998. She is modeled after the famous Montegnana “Sleeping Beauty”. The bridge is retrofitted with a Wilson C2 pickup for live sound. Aimee also has the ability to do remote session work either from her home where she records using Royer-121 ribbons, or in many of the commercial studio spaces in and around the Houston area. If standard cello isn’t quite your style, Aimee also plays a Yamaha SVC-210 electric when she’s feeling a little extra spicy.

  • Music for the Church has been a lifelong passion for Aimee, and she believes worship is a powerful tool for healing, growth, and wholeness. To that end, she works to develop other string players in a worship setting by coaching groups and writing music to integrate strings with contemporary worship bands. In addition to serving regularly in her home church and churches around southeast Texas, she has performed live with Robbie Seay, Aaron Williams, Audrey Assad, Ellie Holcomb, Andrew Peterson, Sarah Groves, Chris Renzema, Matt Boswell, the Worship Initiative, Breakaway Worship, and many others.
